When Your Creativity Makes Someone Happy ; )

The best gift you can give someone is one that touches their heart...

A long time friend of mine invited me to her 40th celebration of life...and unfortunately, we have lost touch since we left high school, but since Facebook, we've been able to reconnect...so my thoughts were "what do I buy her?". Then I remembered, a saying I like to post on Facebook as my status. Each word in its self are simple, but the combination of the words are powerful, thought provoking, inspiring to me, and to her. So I took my creativeness and designed a tile, dressed it in fancy glittery, whimsical paper, pretty ribbon, and wrote out that saying that she loves so much...I was so excited to give it to her when we walked in, I made her open it right away!  I was touched that her first reaction was to cry because she loved it so much!   Happy Birthday Mrs. Lisa!

Dating! Emergency Contact Wanted~ Enough Said!

I think everyone wants to be able to find love in the traditional sense...meaning not in a bar or from online dating services. We all want to look across the room and catch that glimpse and say..."I will marry him/her!" Without having met! The love at first sight...I believe in that, an instant connection, being swept off my feet...meeting Mr. Right, riding off into the sunset! (Totally kidding)!

So, defeated in the traditional sense of dating, I joined an online dating service.  There I am hung out like a piece of candy hoping that my picture, my summary of who I am and what I want is sufficient  to bring another individual into my life. Its a mating process! This process is difficult and humbling as well. You wink or email, and sometimes you get the system generated "No Thanks" response, or just no response at all. Its funny because they give you all these suggestions on what to say in an email to that person to connect, and somehow...it doesn't seem to represent you or what you have to offer, BECAUSE your summary on your profile definitely doesn't sum up the quality person you truly are in the first place. And listen...I love to write, that's why I blog...But the truth of the matter is, no matter what I write, what the pictures reveal, seeing me and talking to me in person are hands down the best way to see who I really am. It is like an internship, hands on experience.  We can all have a degree, but how do you land the job without diving into that type of work, your foot in the door with a little experience under your belt? My degree (online profile) doesn't truly reflect my capabilities! It shows some, but not all...so while all I have are the words to summarize me, and a couple of pictures...it doesn't reflect my infectious laugh or my tender touch. It does show my true love of my family and friends...nor my love of traditions, as those are things you need to see firsthand.  You can’t see my creativity or feel my energy. You just see a smiling face on a good day.  Unfortunately I think without human interaction, so much is lost in translation and in this case an online profile.   But I'm being cautiously optimistic...I’ve meet a couple of great guys...and hopefully they will get to see the things that are not on paper that reflect who I really am.  Wish me luck in finding my emergency contact! LOL.

A Moment's Reflection to Help Me with My Manifesto...

So as much as I would like the words to just flow through me and on to paper, I am at an impasse.  I'm not sure if its because I'm not ready to adhere to a set of rules that I want to live by the rest of my life, or I just don't have the creativity to come up with something profound and thought provoking... awe inspiring, that I HAVE to live my life that way.  I think, as I learned at The Grove today, that I have to make myself vulnerable. Vulnerable to who? Myself? Probably...So I think to truly write a manifesto to the depth that I want to write it, I think I need to break down the parts of my life that have been the most difficult and trying or fulling and happy, and draw from those moments and figure out how I got there or how to not go back.

A particular time I can reflect on my life was not only happy but trying, when I graduated from college.  How did I do it, with everything that I had going against me, how did I manage to graduate from college?  When I decided to go back to school in 1998, I was 27, with a 5yr old. I needed 88 credits and 9 years had already passed from when I left high school...the dreariness had set in...it would take forever.  But something hit me when I went back...probably seeing all of the 18 year old's with thoughts of careers and their future in their heads...and I was already in my future...with a 5yr old.  There are some fortunate and unfortunate circumstances that I was in during the time I took to graduate...one thing, I was on welfare...poor, poor, poor. I had section 8, food stamps and almost free child care. But had I not been on section 8 with only having to pay $60 a month for rent, I wouldn't have been able to go back to school full time. Had I not received food stamps and almost free child care, I wouldn't have been able to take all the classes I did at one time.  I lived on $190 a month and financial aide for 2 years...(I cant even imagine now). So some of my unfortunate circumstances allowed me to make fortunate decisions. I pride myself on the fact that I finished 88 credits, graduated with a 3.0, volunteered at a domestic violence shelter, while single handedly raising a 5yr old by myself...in 2 years.  Originally I wanted to graduate before I was 30, and then with the new millennium coming upon us,  I wanted to be apart of the first graduating class of 2000.  I lived and breathed school, taking 16-21 credits at a time, one semester going to ASU and Rio Salado at the same time because ASU wouldn't approve my taking more than 20 credits one semester. I finished my Bachelors degree in Justice Studies with a minor in Family Studies (when I was 29!)! Graduating was euphoric...I did it!

Reminiscing about those tough 2 years has definitely provided me more inspiration for writing...as I'm coming up on 40 years of life and how I want to live my life for the next 40...those 2 particular years will definitely provide me with the additional insight and motivation to finish my manifesto by February 11, 2011.

Looking for Help in Writing My Personal Manifesto

I am beginning to write my personal Manifesto. I am hoping to have a true draft of it before the end of the year or at the very latest end of January, with a final draft by February 10th. Writing this manifesto is something that I want to live by, and adhere to, not only do I want it to be serious, but lighthearted at times. I thought about how I can make this more unique, so I’m going to add a special component to it.  My manifesto will have 40 points mostly in part due to my celebration of my wonderful 40th birthday next year! I would also like my manifesto to have within one of 40 points, 40 subparts. Those 40 subparts will be a task that I will complete in the 39 proceeding days to the 40th one, which will commence on March 22. So my personal 40 day journey should start on February 11 and end the day I hit the big 40...which by the way is the new 20!  I have so many ideas, and thoughts that I want to incorporate into this manifesto, but I would really like some feedback from you, my fellow relatives, friends, yes, you the reader, for some suggestions for my 40 subparts.  Don’t be shy...let me know, I’d love to hear from you!

Fable of the Porcupine

 It was the coldest winter ever. -  Many animals died because of the cold. The porcupines, realizing the situation, decided to group together.  This way they covered and protected themselves; but the quills of each one wounded their closest companions even though they gave off heat to each other. After awhile, they decided to distance themselves one from the other and they began to die, alone and frozen. So they had to make a choice: either accept the quills of their companions or disappear from the Earth. Wisely, they decided to go back to being together. This way they learned to live with the little wounds that were caused by the close relationship with their companion, but the most important part of it, was the heat that came from the others. This way they were able to survive.
 Moral of the story: The best relationship is not the one that brings together perfect people, but the best is when each individual learns to live with the imperfections of others and can admire the other person's good qualities.

My Favorite Photo of My Son

This picture was taken of Jaysen as he was sitting of the very edge of a cliff at the Pebble Beach Golf course's 18th hole. I love the color of the ocean, but more so Jaysen's fearless perch and his looking out there seeing who knows what.

My Love of Fonts

I dont know if this goes along with my mother's talents, as she used to be a graphic designer many years ago. I remember the sheets and sheets of rub on fonts that she had...and these days, well, all you do is change the font on your computer. So the other day I was writing and decided Im going on a "font hunt" because Im just bored with Times New Roman and Courier New...so I found these great ones, and I want to share...because Im a sharer...LOL

 Vilvaldi--how can you not love this font...its soooo beautiful! Especially if you have Vs, Fs, Es Bs,S,s W, X, and Z in your name!!
 Fiolex Girls-perfect for girls and you would want to have lots
        of iiiiiiis in everything you write, like it, is, if, in, LOL...
      Curlz MT-another perfect font for us gurlz!
                  Jokerman-playful              Matisse-artful
 Orlando-doesnt this make you want to
go to ft. lauderdale?
QuigleyWiggly--Im feeling Australia and Koala Bears here
Neurochrome- fast cars
& motorcycles...

There are thousands and I mean THOUSANDS of fonts...I found one site that had 10,001 free fonts...FREE...but ya know...I grew bored of looking at all the fonts - Tall Pall
But if Im feeling playful or artful or if my story feels extra girlie or Loving... if I want to emphasis Travel or unique places, I will add the extra touch of a specializing the fonts for theatrical purposes!

I WANT This Rug!!

In almost every room of my house I see my mother's creativity...by her hand, or by the inspiration Ive gotten from seeing her own home...or maybe it is deeply running through my veins, and its my own creativity! I think all three apply!  It was funny because about a year ago, she had walked into my apartment and was in awe of how I had my apartment decorated. I took that as a compliment! Now, I dont now about you, but my mother has this innate ability to turn a shack into a home that could appear in a Phoenix Home and Garden spread...which of course that magazine is the very reason Im writing this blog today.  The November issue has a simple photo of an entry way  as seen here...and I saw the rug that I have been searching for and I was like, I WANT THAT RUG!!! Well guess what...thats not a rug you can buy at Target...oh no, its an antique rug...doesnt even list a place to buy one similar to it, or how much it costs...just "antique rug." Grrrr...Im thinking how great that very rug would look in my small little entry way on my wood floors with my touches of Auburn, Sienna and Burgundy that are incorporated in the pillows, wine canisters, blankets and mirrors. That rug would go perfectly...sniff sniff... But now I find myself thumbing through PHG and saying I want that, I want this...and I have a Target income, not a PHG income...what to do, what to do.  So I want to find some quaint little antique shops, peruse the shops in Scottsdale and Cave Creek to find a rug like this one...but I think Im going to be out of luck...but what I love most is how I feel connected to the talents of my mom when I see something unique and know that we would love the same thing!

One Flaw in Women..

 Women have strengths that amaze men.....

 They bear hardships and they carry burdens,

 but they hold happiness, love and joy.

 They smile when they want to scream.

 They sing when they want to cry.

 They cry when they are happy

 and laugh when they are nervous.

 They fight for what they believe in..

 They stand up to injustice.

 They don't take "no" for an answer

 when they believe there is a better solution.

 They go without so their family can have.

 They go to the doctor with a frightened friend.

 They love unconditionally.

 They cry when their children excel

 and cheer when their friends get awards.

 They are happy when they hear about

 a birth or a wedding.

  Their hearts break when a friend dies.

 They grieve at the loss of a family member,

 yet they are strong when they

 think there is no strength left.

 They know that a hug and a kiss

 can heal a broken heart.

 Women come in all shapes, sizes and colors.

 They'll drive, fly, walk, run or e-mail you

 to show how much they care about you.

 The heart of a woman is what

 makes the world keep turning.

 They bring joy, hope and love.

 They have compassion and ideas.

 They give moral support to their

 family and friends.

 Women have vital things to say

 and everything to give..

 HOWEVER, IF THERE IS ONE FLAW IN WOMEN...

IT IS THAT THEY FORGET THEIR WORTH.

  lets make a point to remind the special women in our lives how much they mean to us!

Will's Wisdom and Hip Hop Preacher Eric Thomas--Inspirational!

My Son has AMAZED Me!!

Back in 2002 I had the pleasure of taking my mother to see Pavarotti live in Phoenix. It was the most amazing musical event that I have ever been too...while it was nothing sitting at America West Arena, as being in Terme di Caracalla Rome Italy would have been the absolute best place to see someone so unbelievably amazing.  (Pavoritti performed there in July 1990 with Carreras, Domingo and Mehta with the del Tearto dell"Opera di Roma.)  So...back to AWA...we sat it the nose bleed section, but to see Pavarotti, you dont need to be so close to see the beads of sweat on his forehead....being in the same arena with him was certainly enough for me to be teary eyed and laden with goosebumps all up and down my arms.  So Im sure your probably wondering why am I bringing this up 8 years later? Well the other day my son was watching the Sum of All Fears...if your a Jack Ryan fan, you know what Im talking about. Anyway, there is a scene where there is opera music playing and it is Nessun Dorma (my favorite aria in the world) , made famous by Pavarotti when he used it as the theme song of the BBC television's coverage of the 1990 FIFA World Cup in Italy. So of course I asked my son what he was watching because for my death metal loving son, hearing this music from the TV surprised me.  I told him that was my favorite aria, which he replied, "I know mom".  LOL.  Well this morning, as Im working away, Jaysen is on the laptop and he is listening to Nessun Dorma by Pavarotti...so again, I asked what he was doing, and he said listening to opera..."WHAT?" as I spun around on my heels and headed back to get more info..."Mom...Opera is amazing when it is sung by someone epic!" Did I just hear my son say this?  I head back to my desk and start texting people that I cant believe my son is listening to Pavarotti...then he surprises me again, by saying "Do you know this one mom..." and I say yes, thats Ave Maria! So we listen to that...So Im getting excited, as I just cant believe my son is playing opera music...so I mention to him that I have the DVD of the 3 tenors ...and yes, another surprise...he wants to watch it...I can hear the music from the other room, and as I look out of my office, I see my son in the kitchen swaying his head to the music...Ah...thank you Lord for allowing him to see the beauty in something that I truly love.  Now lets see if I can get him to the Opera! Hmmm...maybe Ill plan a trip to the Met next year and see something amazing!  And its so ironic that it is National Opera Week! Ahhhh...

If You Have...

The following is something to ponder...
If you have food in the refrigerator, clothes on your back, a roof overhead and a place to sleep...
you are richer than 75% of this world.

If you have money in the bank, in your wallet, and spare change in a dish someplace... you are among the 8% of the world's wealthy.

If you woke up this morning with more health than illness... you are more blessed than the million who will not survive this week.

If you have never experienced the danger of battle, the loneliness of imprisonment, the agony of the torture, or the pangs of starvation... you are ahead of 500 million people in the world.

If your parents are still alive and still married... you are very rare even in the USA.

If you hold up your head with a smile on your face and are truly thankful... you are blessed because the majority can, but most do not. If you can hold someone's hand, hug them or even touch them on the shoulder...
you are blessed because you can offer healing touch.

If you can read this message, you just received a double blessing in that someone was thinking of you, and further more, you are more blessed than over two billion people in the world that cannot read at all.
Have a good day, count your blessings, and pass this to remind everyone else how blessed we all are.

GOD BLESS...

Let it Go for 2011 (lets get a jump start!)

There are people who can walk away from you. And hear me when I tell you this! When people can walk away from you: let them walk. I don't want you to try to talk another person into staying with you, loving you, calling you, caring about you, coming to see you, staying attached to you. I mean hang up the phone.

When people can walk away from you let them walk. Your destiny is never tied to anybody that left. The bible said that, "They came out from us that it might be made manifest that they were not for us. For had they been of us, no doubt they would have continued with us." [1 John 2:19]

People leave you because they are not joined to you. And if they are not joined to you, you can't make them stay. Let them go. And it doesn't mean that they are a bad person, it just means that their part in the story is over. And you've got to know when people's part in your story is over so that you don't keep trying to raise the dead. You've got to know when it's dead. You've got to know when it's over.

Let me tell you something. I've got the gift of good-bye. It's the tenth spiritual gift, I believe in good-bye. It's not that I'm hateful, it's that I'm faithful, and I know whatever God means for me to have He'll give it to me. And if it takes too much sweat I don't need it. Stop begging people to stay. Let them go!!

If you are holding on to something that doesn't belong to you and was never intended for your life, then you need to...LET IT GO!!!

If you are holding on to past hurts and pains... LET IT GO!!!

If someone can't treat you right, love you back, and see your worth... LET IT GO!!!

If someone has angered you ... LET IT GO!!!

If you are holding on to some thoughts of evil and revenge.... LET IT GO!!!

If you are involved in a wrong relationship or addiction ... LET IT GO!!!

If you are holding on to a job that no longer meets your needs or talents .. LET IT GO!!!

If you have a bad attitude... LET IT GO!!!

If you keep judging others to make yourself feel better... LET IT GO!!!

If you're stuck in the past and God is trying to take you to a new level in Him... LET IT GO!!!

If you are struggling with the healing of a broken relationship.... LET IT GO!!!

If you keep trying to help someone who won't even try to help themselves.. LET IT GO!!!

If you're feeling depressed and stressed ... LET IT GO!!!

If there is a particular situation that you are so used to handling yourself and God is saying "take your hands off of it," then you need to... LET IT GO!!!

Let the past be the past. Forget the former things. GOD is doing a new thing for 2010!!! LET IT GO!!!

Get Right or Get Left .. think about it, and then LET IT GO!!!

I Letter to My Sister When She Moved Away (from her Dad)

Below is a letter I composed for my sister when she decided to move to Florida...she was making a move that would take her away from all she knew and at that time, she had wondered what her father would have thought about her...so I channeled his thoughts and this is what I wrote...

Dearest Amy,
It doesn’t seem that long ago that I wrote to you when you were a little girl about moving to Arizona…and now your all grown up and taking your family, as I did, on a new adventure.   It may seem scary at first to move somewhere new, but as you did 25 years ago, you made friends fast, and made Arizona your home in no time.   Now that you are moving to Florida, you will get to go to the beaches, take my grandkids to Disney World, like I did when you were just a baby, and enjoy the warm winters as you have in Arizona.  Remember our first Christmas in Arizona? You, Jenny and Jeff were running around in shorts saying how warm it was. It took no time for all of us to become accustom to the heavenly weather that December brought, I'm sure you will all continue to do the same.   We made quite a few memories in Arizona, and although I won’t be able to make the trip with you to Florida, as you set out for something new and exciting, just know, I'm always looking down on you, with my big smile, thinking my little snit sure is something else.  While you are on the road, take time with the kids to play “I'm going on a safari?” count license plates and play “slug bug”.   When you see your mom, give her a big hug and kiss from me, and when you arrive to your new home,  take a moment to look out into the night sky, find a twinkling star, and know that at that very moment, I'm thinking about you.  I'm so proud of you, you’re all grown up, embarking on a new life, raising 3 amazing kids, going back to college…I couldn’t be more proud.  Have a safe trip Amy Wamy…I’ll be watching over all of you.
                                                        Love and miss you,

                                                                        Daddy

I am Thankful...

FOR MY SIGNIFICANT OTHER, WHO SAYS LETS IN EAT IN TONIGHT,
BECAUSE THEY ARE HOME WITH ME, NOT WITH SOMEONE ELSE.

FOR THE CHILD WHO IS COMPLAINING ABOUT DOING CHORES,
BECAUSE THAT MEANS HE IS AT HOME AND NOT ON THE STREETS.

FOR THE TAXES THAT I PAY,
BECAUSE IT MEANS THAT I AM EMPLOYED.

FOR THE MESS TO CLEAN AFTER THE PARTY,
BECAUSE IT MEANS THAT I HAVE BEEN SURROUNDED BY FRIENDS.

FOR THE CLOTHES THAT FIT A LITTLE TOO SNUG,
BECAUSE IT MEANS THAT I HAVE HAD ENOUGH TO EAT.

FOR MY SHADOW THAT WATCHES ME WORK,
BECAUSE IT MEANS I AM OUT IN THE SUNSHINE.

FOR A LAWN THAT NEEDS MOWING, WINDOWS THAT NEED CLEANING,
AND GUTTERS THAT NEED FIXING, BECAUSE IT MEANS I HAVE A HOME.

FOR ALL THE COMPLAINING I HEAR ABOUT THE GOVERNMENT,
BECAUSE IT MEANS THAT WE HAVE FREEDOM OF SPEECH.

FOR THE PARKING SPOT THAT I FIND AT THE FAR END OF THE PARKING LOT,
BECAUSE IT MEANS THAT I AM CAPABLE OF WALKING AND I HAVE BEEN BLESSED WITH TRANSPORTATION.

FOR MY HUGE ELECTRIC BILL,
BECAUSE IT MEANS THAT I AM COOL.

FOR THE LADY BEHIND ME IN CHURCH THAT SINGS OFF KEY,
BECAUSE IT MEANS THAT I CAN HEAR.

FOR THE PILE OF LAUNDRY AND IRONING,
BECAUSE IT MEANS I HAVE CLOTHES TO WEAR.

FOR WEARY AND ACHING MUSCLES AT THE END OF THE DAY,
BECAUSE IT MEANS I HAVE BEEN CAPABLE OF WORKING HARD.

AND FOR THE ALARM THAT GOES OFF IN THE EARLY MORNING HOURS,
BECAUSE IT MEANS I AM ALIVE!

I AM THANKFUL!

Not too Many Doctors Do This!!

This is something that I have never encountered before or have even heard from people I know! Get this...my endodontist (the root canal specialist) has referred me to a facial pain specialist due to the chronic pain on the left upper side of my mouth. After 4 visits with him in a month consisting of shaving down my crown twice, 2 antibiotic courses, steroids and pain medication ..he can't find anything wrong that he can justify drilling into my tooth.  So he refers me to this specialist and is going to PAY FOR IT HIMSELF (lets not get ahead of ourselves ..its just the consultation and diagnosis ) but it is $500!

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ $$$$$  F I V E   H U N D R E D   D O L L A R S $$$$$~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  I've been to plenty of doctors that have to refer me out..plenty!  But not one doctor has ever believed in another doctors ability so much that they are willing to pay for services themselves! I think that speaks volumes and I feel extremely blessed for this! So I'm putting a shout out to Dr. Jason Hales at Superstition Springs Endodontics! If you ever need a root canal...please call him...he takes great care of you..and oh, lol...likes to sing while drilling away! zzz zzz
Take the Challenge!
So a dear friend of mine posted this on my Facebook wall the other day, and suggested it would be good for my blog...why YES Tracy...it would be! So...here it is: "TAKE THE CHALLENGE! STEP OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE! "
Over the next 14 days you will need to do the following 5 things.
1. Talk to 14 people you would never speak to or spoken with.
2. Watch 2 Independent films or blk/wht movies.
3. Read one book not written by your favorite author or topic.
4. Eat food you've never tried before.
5. Ask forgiveness to someone you've hurt.
Ive considered the challenges and find that 1-4 should be no problem...everyone knows me, Im a socializer, chat chat chat...Ive been doing that since I was 2!  Watching independent films or black and white movies, also easy, as I L O V E movies...not a hard task...I think I will actually find a Blockbuster, if there is even one around anymore, and buy a couple. I love to read, again not hard, and I have been give a couple of books by my little angel on earth Josephina, so I have that covered! Now eating something Ive never tried before may be a little challenging, but probably not as easy as the first 3. Those are easy challenges...its the last one that I find difficult...do I start this challenge by doing #5 first and let the rest be easy? I dont know...so Im going to give myself some time to think about how I will do this but Im starting it on November 1st.  Who wants to take the challenge with me?
Let it Be a Mystery!
So! Another wonderful inspirational day at the Grove..Pastor Colby spoke today about Hidden for Ages. It was very full of scripture so I almost had a flashback of the days that prevented me from coming back...but it was the last challenge of 3 that struck me.  Simply put...EMBRACE MYSTERY.  In order for us to understand the last challenge, Pastor Colby shared with us  the miscarriage his wife suffered a couple of months back.  If they had the chance, would they ever be able to accept an answer as to why she had a miscarriage? Of course not...never! Nothing would ever make their loss acceptable.  He said that sometimes God's way of doing things is a mystery, and it's okay, as knowing the answers may be disappointing.  So when you are presented with a big black box with a question mark on it (as we were at service) and you want to demand an answer or a reason for why this is happening, you should just embrace the mystery. What we learned at service that what was under the box...was...a... cheese grater?  Yes a cheese grater! Point well taken! There was nothing spectacular hidden under the box...the church bells did not ring, lights did not flash from the Heavens to unveil this gift we had anticipated on seeing. Yes...we were d i s a p p o i n t e d.   So we need to lean into Christ by putting our faith and trust in him that he will lead us in the right direction.   I have been faced with many black boxes with question marks...Ive wanted understanding as to "why?"..."why is this happening to me?"..."what did I do to deserve this?"  Now? Now I'm going to let go, and let God.   Have a beautiful day, and embrace the mystery!
How Do You Pronounce "Texted"??
Okay so we know how many of us become annoyed with the misuse of their, there and they're...it's  visually and grammatically painful sometimes the way they are used incorrectly...so that aside...I'm here to tell you, that when I hear people say "I textED my friend..." it's like nails on a chalk board!  Do you say I workED, stoppED, walkED???...NO!!! So why do people insist on saying texted...its TEXTed the ed just blends into the T.  I know it seems like you're not using the proper tense as the T and the ED kinda roll together, but really its texted. So for those of you who mispronounce texted, (in my humble opinion) please say it right.  Grrr...  read more on the below site...
My Reason to LOVE Facebook!
I have often stated that Facebook would be the death of me! I had spent so much time on it when I first signed up that I considered it a part time job.  I joined, it seemed like all of the applications, spent plenty of time sending requests for everything, from ornaments, drinks, cards, flowers, charms, mafia wars, farmville, etc...but what I have definitely have enjoyed are some of the friendships I have made, or have reconnected with from many many moons ago!  I have had the pleasure of corresponding with a Army medic who was stationed in Iraq for a year. I loved the military lingo, and was quite thankful that we were able to IM and not wait for a letter back a month later to find out what he meant! Thankfully he is back home safe and sound to his wife and kids!  Ive been able to find friends that I havent talked to since I moved away in 1984, that I have been able to reconnect with. It has been great to see friends 20+ years later, and see their growing families and share in their successes.  Ive been able to share in birthday wishes, anniversary moments, birth announcements, wedding proposals...you name it... I love the connections I get to keep with people that I am especially close with that are thousands of miles away or right down the street. I think how lucky kids are these days when they move across the country, as I did at 14, to have the instant connection of seeing pictures, messages to instant message...they dont have to worry about loosing contact...its like they havent even left!  Me???  I had to wait 25 years to reconnect with my old best friends from junior high, Bridget and Carol, old boyfriends, who shall remain nameless to protect my innocence, and relatives that I havent seen in years, like Christy, and Tara! I love the groups that you can join, the "likes" you can like...but the friendships renewed, maintained or found...those are the best.  I was able to become friends with Laura, Rem, Francesca, Italian girls who came to Arizona with the Lions Club. I was blessed to be able to take them up to Sedona for the day, and become friends with all of them on Facebook. Its a delight to read their posts, or at least pretend to read and understand what they are writing in Italian.  I love the opportunity to IM with them!  But my most most most favorite is definitely with my niece, my precious princess Olivia, who we share the common obsession of Hello Kitty, Horses and the color pink. We love to write on each other's wall how much we love and miss each other, and really what it comes down to is how many "O's" we can put after an "S" and declare our love and missing each other to infinity and beyond.  If anything, Facebook has let me stay closer to my family, those long lost, but especially those so close to my heart...what does FB do for you?
