My Reason to LOVE Facebook!
I have often stated that Facebook would be the death of me! I had spent so much time on it when I first signed up that I considered it a part time job. I joined, it seemed like all of the applications, spent plenty of time sending requests for everything, from ornaments, drinks, cards, flowers, charms, mafia wars, farmville, etc...but what I have definitely have enjoyed are some of the friendships I have made, or have reconnected with from many many moons ago! I have had the pleasure of corresponding with a Army medic who was stationed in Iraq for a year. I loved the military lingo, and was quite thankful that we were able to IM and not wait for a letter back a month later to find out what he meant! Thankfully he is back home safe and sound to his wife and kids! Ive been able to find friends that I havent talked to since I moved away in 1984, that I have been able to reconnect with. It has been great to see friends 20+ years later, and see their growing families and share in their successes. Ive been able to share in birthday wishes, anniversary moments, birth announcements, wedding proposals...you name it... I love the connections I get to keep with people that I am especially close with that are thousands of miles away or right down the street. I think how lucky kids are these days when they move across the country, as I did at 14, to have the instant connection of seeing pictures, messages to instant message...they dont have to worry about loosing contact...its like they havent even left! Me??? I had to wait 25 years to reconnect with my old best friends from junior high, Bridget and Carol, old boyfriends, who shall remain nameless to protect my innocence, and relatives that I havent seen in years, like Christy, and Tara! I love the groups that you can join, the "likes" you can like...but the friendships renewed, maintained or found...those are the best. I was able to become friends with Laura, Rem, Francesca, Italian girls who came to Arizona with the Lions Club. I was blessed to be able to take them up to Sedona for the day, and become friends with all of them on Facebook. Its a delight to read their posts, or at least pretend to read and understand what they are writing in Italian. I love the opportunity to IM with them! But my most most most favorite is definitely with my niece, my precious princess Olivia, who we share the common obsession of Hello Kitty, Horses and the color pink. We love to write on each other's wall how much we love and miss each other, and really what it comes down to is how many "O's" we can put after an "S" and declare our love and missing each other to infinity and beyond. If anything, Facebook has let me stay closer to my family, those long lost, but especially those so close to my heart...what does FB do for you?
